LGBTQIA+ PEOPLE
AND FAMILIES

I work with LGBTQIA+ adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating identity, relationships, family dynamics, parenting, trauma, and the emotional impact of environments that are not always fully affirming. For many clients, therapy provides space not only to process stress and emotional difficulty, but also to explore questions of authenticity, belonging, connection, self-worth, and the challenge of building a sustainable life while navigating external expectations and internal pressures.

I believe affirming therapy involves more than simply expressing acceptance of LGBTQIA+ identities in isolation. Effective therapy requires the acknowledgment that being LGBTQIA+ does not necessarily equate to a common lived experience.  Rather, each member of the LGBTQIA+ community may intersect differently with work environments, family systems, racial identity, religion, neurodivergence, gender, and relationships.

I also work with LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples pursuing adoption, surrogacy, and other paths to parenthood. In addition to therapeutic support around identity, transition, stress, and family-building, I provide practical consultation about the logistical, financial, legal, and relational complexities that can accompany these processes. This may include guidance, preparation, resource connection, and support navigating agencies, systems, and decision-making throughout the journey to parenthood.

My approach is relational, collaborative, and grounded in helping clients feel understood without reducing them solely to identity labels, diagnoses, or external expectations. Therapy may involve identity exploration, emotional regulation, communication and relationship work, trauma-informed care, family dynamics, and developing a more integrated and sustainable way of moving through daily life.

I look forward to
hearing from you.
