HIGH-PRESSURE
CAREERS & BURNOUT

I work with professionals navigating burnout, chronic stress, perfectionism, anxiety, attentional challenges, identity strain, and the emotional exhaustion that can develop in demanding professional environments. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, highly capable individuals who have achieved significant external success while privately struggling with overwhelm, disconnection, irritability, self-criticism, or the persistent feeling that their lives have become difficult to sustain.

Before becoming a therapist, I practiced law in high-pressure professional environments.  I understand many of the cultural dynamics that shape careers in law, finance, medicine, technology, consulting, and other demanding fields. In many professional settings, expectations around constant availability, responsiveness, performance, and competition are not hypothetical.  Rather, they are embedded in the nature of the work itself.  As a result, for people engaged in complex professional work, the usual, generic therapeutic advice to “set better boundaries” is simply not useful or realistic.  I get that challenge.  As a therapist, I value cultural sensitivity, and I approach "corporate culture" - which has its own norms, values, expectations, and taboos - with the same sensitivity I would use with any other culture.

My approach is relational, practical, and grounded in helping clients better understand both the external pressures and internal patterns contributing to their burnout and chronic stress. Therapy may involve developing emotional flexibility, addressing perfectionism and self-criticism, improving relationships and communication, reconnecting with values and identity outside of work, and building more sustainable ways of functioning without reducing therapy to productivity optimization alone.

I look forward to
hearing from you.
